Stage Play Starts Next Week!

As described in a previous post, the Scottish Rite Clinic for Childhood Language Disorders and the Duluth Playhouse Children's Theater are collaborating to provide acting classes this summer. Many of our five to eight year old novice actors have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Everyone taking this class is working on communication skills. Our collaborative theater project begins next week. We now have a name for this program--Stage Play! This week, we are creating the supports and training the supporters. We have a cast of acting buddies and peer models nearly ready to start. You will see them in the clips below. This post is part of our pre-teaching program and below you will see video clips that can be used as video models for the children involved so that each participant can see the theater space and know something about next Wednesday's acting class even before he or she attends the first class.

Popcorn Attendance--how each acting class will start:

This week, we will talk about

  1. Actor
  2. Audience
  3. Performance

At the end of every class, we will do a curtain call:

My next post will show you something called Actor's Introduction. Stay Tuned!
