In our Stage Play acting classes, we like to give our young actors a graceful way out when participating seems too hard. We have begun to teach the rule that actors can ask an Acting Buddy to do things that seem too hard. We have avoided a lot of meltdowns by not insisting that children do things. So far, every actor seems to come around to the idea of every activity eventually--actually pretty quickly. It is easier to decide to participate if you know that you don't have to do it.
